Deep Ellum is the Metroplex's most progressive and eclectic neighborhood. The Deep Ellum Arts Festival exemplifies everything that makes this area rock. The biggest weekend of the year for the Deep Ellum Entertainment District, this free-to-attend outdoor "street party" features four outdoor stages with non-stop performances by over 75 national, regional, and local original bands during this three-day festival. With more than 100 top-notch juried decorative and visual artists, muralist, the renowned Deep Ellum Pet Parade, and abundant food and drink, the Deep Ellum Arts Festival attracts a diverse audience and includes affluent art and music enthusiasts. This is an adult-oriented visual and performing arts festival - while supervised young children and teenagers are welcome, there are no planned activities for them.

  • More than 75 original bands and singer/songwriters will perform from four separate outdoor entertainment stages. Keeping pace with the newest sounds of the music industry and reflecting Deep Ellum's exploding new music scene Copasetic Ballyhoo will keep all stages rocking simultaneously with an eclectic mix of genres, including Dallas' favorite fusion rock, southern soul, and "genre-breaking" bands. 2009 headliners include: Lance Lopez, The Campaign, Justin Ross, John Lewis band, Hostile Hippies, Champa, Jones, Week of Tuesdays, Spivey, Backsliders, Escort Service, Josh Weathers, Folium, Shock of Pleasure, Joint Method, Spector 45, Inner City All-Stars, and Katsuk

  • The Singer/Songwriter Stage features local songwriters performing their own original live music, hosted by Lori Dreir A Girl & A Guitar and Sound FX Entertainment

  • World famous 720 Action Sports Team will be performing BMX and inline skating stunt shows.

  • Deep Ellum Pet Parade Hundreds of pet owners are invited to take their "Best Friends" on a tail-wagging promenade down Main Street, starting Sunday at 12:00 noon at Main St and Malcom X Blvd. See the flyer

  • The Artist's Underground, a melting pot of original and unsigned Texas artists. This unique area will host body painters, clothing design, acoustic acts, spoken word, poetry, and myriads of original art pieces.

  • This years featured Artist Leroy Roper (MySpace Page) is an artistic icon in the "Deep Ellum" area since 1992, and internationally recognized for combining hand-painted backgrounds, painted bodies and photography, Visit "The Leroy Roper Gallery" exclusively @ excuses extreme cafe and surround yourself with 360 degrees of Art, Food & Fun...3025 Main Street.   • Oncor Electric Delivery showcases its 1,000 sq. ft. Smart Texas Mobile Experience Center to provide visitors an interactive, hands-on demonstration of how new advanced meters will bring consumers more control over their energy consumption and electricity costs. The exhibit educates visitors on Oncor’s implementation of one of the broadest deployments of technology on the electric grid in the nation with its installation of more than 3 million advanced meters in its Texas service areas by 2012.
